Daisy the Moo Cow is a great picture book for bedtime reading to preschool children. It tells the story of a curious calf, who is rescued by a kind farmer, after eating too many purple flowers.

Written and illustrated by Peter Sheehan. Hardcover, 36 pages. A companion book to Willy Wagtail Grows Up.

Recommended for children ages 2+.

Peter Sheehan is an award winning Australian illustrator and author.

Daisy the Moo Cow is based on a story originally told by Teresa Sheehan, Peter's mother.

NOTE: The purple flowered plant, illustrated in the book, is Echium plantagineum, or 'Paterson’s curse', a weed often found in Australian pastures. It is difficult to control and is toxic to cows. Said to be named after the Paterson family of Cumberoona, who planted it in their garden in the 1880s. It can also sometimes be called 'salvation Jane', 'blueweed', 'Lady Campbell weed' or the 'Riverina bluebell'.
